Do You Need A Plumber To Install A Whole House Water Filter?

AquaCo whole house water filter system for licensed plumber installation

A whole-house water filter is not the same as clipping a small filter to a tap. It connects to the home's mains water line, which is why a licensed plumber is the right person for the job.

Where a whole-house filter is installed

The usual location is near the mains entry point, before water branches to the rest of the home. Depending on the property, that might be outside on a sidewall or inside a garage.

What the plumber needs to know

Useful information includes the system dimensions, required clearance, pressure requirements and where the cartridges will be accessed for future replacement. The AquaCo Premium PFAS system is 680mm high, 800mm wide and 290mm deep, and needs at least 150mm clearance on the sides and below for maintenance and future cartridge changes. It has a maximum inlet pressure of 90 PSI (normal operating pressure is 70 PSI). If your home's mains pressure runs higher than that, a pressure limiting valve is needed ahead of the filter.

Why the install location matters

The best location is usually practical rather than pretty: close to the mains water entry, accessible for cartridge changes and protected from accidental knocks where possible. A garage or sheltered sidewall can work well if the pipe route makes sense. The installer also needs enough room to isolate the system, service it later and keep the finished job tidy.

That is why photos are useful before quoting. A clear photo of the meter or mains entry area often answers the first questions a plumber will ask: pipe direction, mounting surface, available clearance and whether extra fittings or protection are likely.

Supply-only versus supply and install

Some customers already have a plumber and only need the system supplied. Others want one clear path from product choice to installation. Either way works: buy the system on its own with free shipping, or use the supply-and-install enquiry page below if you would like help organising a licensed plumber.

Before you order

Take photos of the likely install area and confirm the water source. For tank or bore water, a water test may be required before confirming suitability. For local assistance, start with the supply and install enquiry page.
